The Great Truth

This poem is based on the words in Paul's Epistle to 1 Timothy, Chapter 3 verse 16. An early Christian hymn, I have endeavoured to retain the message behind the words when constructing this rhyme.

Beyond all question the mystery is great

from which true godliness springs;

He himself appeared in the flesh

to be raised above all things.

Vindicated by the Spirit,

seen by angels and preached

among the nations, believed by the world,

striving to reach the unreached.

The power and source of these wonderful things

is confirmed at the end of the story:

it is what we ever remember and praise:

He was taken up in glory.
