Musings from Maulden by Richard
Farquharson...

Richard Farquharson has an uncanny knack
of discerning the sacred amongst the secular. In the course of a year, he
muses on what he sees around him: God at work in His world. This refreshing book – diary, travelogue, personal jotter – is set against the background of village life and travels further afield, as we journey with Richard through a kaleidoscope of English landscapes. It reflects changes taking place - such as the closure of his village post office, the departure of the Rector, the enthronement of the new Archbishop - in a text interwoven with the natural world, the cycle of the seasons and the Scriptures. A little like a modern day male Egeria, Richard also gives us tantalising glimpses into monastic life and has an eye for detail as the liturgical calendar unfolds throughout the year. Readers of this book cannot fail to be inspired by the manifestation of God in the ordinary, as they work with Richard in the garden, travel alongside him to a variety of interesting destinations or simply join with his reflections, his observations, his “Musings from Maulden”. The Author Richard Farquharson lives in the village of Maulden
(hence the book’s title) and is active in his local church. He runs a
website on behalf of the Community of the Resurrection, an Anglican
Religious Community, as well as assisting with the websites of two other
Anglican Religious Communities. Maulden is a village in Bedfordshire, about 40 miles
north of London. Located in a rural setting between Bedford and Luton, it currently has a
school, a shop, two pubs, two churches (Anglican and Baptist) and a number
of local businesses. ISBN: 978-1-908295-13-2 |
